White Rock Dog Rescue was born formally on 6/19/2000. A stray was howling in our driveway at 3 am and was trying to get our attention. We followed him down the hill but gave up when we got close as this Bassett Hound ran further away. The next morning our neighbor urgently called and said a dog was laying in yard unable to lift his head and was in dire circumstances. We took him to the vet and he was a 6-month-old Shih tzu that was on deaths door – dehydrated, with a staph infection eating away at both eyes and with no hair on his body! Slowly and with $4,400 we took care of him – double eye gr White Rock Dog Rescue was born formally on 6/19/2000. A stray was howling in our driveway at 3 am and was trying to get our attention. Slowly and with $4,400 we took care of him – double eye grafts, hernia repair, daily baths and round the clock eye drops. Much effort, emotion and money went into his recuperation. The Bassett Hound was trying to alert us that his Shih tzu buddy needed help! He was waiting for us when we got home. These two were constant companions for the rest of their lives.

We discovered how hard it was to get assistance to assist animals in desperate need. White Rock Dog Rescue was born! We have a network of volunteers, fosters and veterinarians that can provide assistance as required. We help ANYONE needing help with rescue and adoption efforts and offer our resources to help these animals in need.

We typically place 220-240 pets a year (since 2000) but since Covid hit, we are placing around 1,000 dogs. WOW!! In addition to our adoption efforts, we offer community outreach. Fixing a fence will keep a pet with a family, offering to assist with medical will do the same thing. Educating families that pets need preventatives to keep pets from getting sick is a big part of our efforts. We also provide seminars to kids to teach them proper training and vet care for pets.

Recently, we assisted a family with a much-needed surgery to repair a pets’ mouth that had been injured during an attack by a neighbor pet. Another family was at the vet needing assistance with a surgery to keep a pet from bleeding out – we helped in both cases. Both animals are alive and healthy because they got assistance! We have many stories to tell of injured and neglected animals and their path to recovery. All of this requires FUNDS.

We are a small but mighty group!! We are made up entirely of volunteers that are hands on and will do the work but we need and rely on community support.
